“Silent Night” sung by Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Clark, Statler Brothers and more. From the 1977 Johnny Cash Christmas Special.

I was there to see this. John Carter Cash and I played in the empty Ryman Auditorium. I sat with my Mom, Barbara Orbison, in the first row balcony. I remember Carl Perkins most of all. First day I remember ever meeting Carl. My Dad’s introduction to him was especially reverent. Roy and Carl both had Elvis-influenced suits on that had gigantic belts. They looked like real life super heroes to me. Carl in his blue suit might as well have been Superman in my eyes. He was so cool and very nice.

I always got a safe feeling around Johnny Cash. He gave off a very protective quality. He would watch me very closely.

And of course, Roy was a real life Darth Vader. The air was sucked out of the room when he walked in. People would literally go quiet & gasp. I’ve seen entire busy airports go silent as he entered.

This was one of the top 5 concerts I ever saw. Maybe the best.

The performers here, along with Elvis Presley, certainly were the best ever to walk the earth.

Happy Holidays 2016 Everybody!
