Yesterday I went to RCA Studio A for a celebration of life for the great recording engineer & producer Jim Malloy. Saw many good family friends. (including Dad’s guitarist Wayne Moss)
Jim is second from left in the picture below.
Jim Malloy (c. 1931 – July 5, 2018) was an American recording engineer. He worked with such artists as Elvis Presley, Duke Ellington and Roy Orbison.
Malloy did various songs and projects with Orbison for the MGM label. Notably “The Fastest Guitar Alive” album with Roy in 1967.
His son, David Malloy, wrote “All I Can Do Is Dream You” which Roy recorded for the Mystery Girl album. David’s wife, Kathy Anderson Malloy, was my mother Barbara’s best friend in Nashville.
God Bless our friend James Edward Malloy
