This is going to come as a shock to the guitar community, but Roy Orbison was the first star to play Marshall Amplification on a tour. His mid 1960’s international tours popularized Marshalls for The Who, Jeff Beck, The Spencer Davis Group and ultimately Jimi Hendrix & Led Zeppelin.
